I like how this lesson mentions several ways to be involved in
government. It also mentions reasons why some people do not get
involved. I thought of why I do not participate more. One of the reasons
why I have not participated more is because I have felt that I could
not whole-heartedly support candidates for this reason or that. I think
that a solution to that could be to clearly identify and prioritize my
values and positions on issues and then see who most closely matches
what is most important to me. I want my priorities to match what I
believe to be most important for our country. To learn that, I need to
know current events as well as the foundation of our country. I aim to
study the foundational principles that created the USA and link what I
find to current events. As I seek learning, I believe I will better know
what I can do to support and defend my values.
